Wired or Wireless?
This can be a tough decision, but here are a few factors to help you on your way:
- No wires is good for everyone, but especially beneficial for console gamers.
- Charging times and battery life are important if you’re a heavy gamer.
- If you intend to use your headphones for more than gaming then pay close attention to the range of the headset and transmitter.

Omnidirectional vs. Unidirectional
Omnidirectional mics pick up ambient sounds from all directions, which can be problematic for your team members on comms. The Unidirectional mics will cut out most background noise and give greater clarity but can be less sensitive.
Overall, we recommend Unidirectional as the safest bet for the competitive player.

- Earcups – Leather will give you a nice comfortable feel but watch out for the sweat. Soft sponge-like material are common and can be very durable, but then again, they aren’t leather :).
- Headbands – Avoid any without padding, as these will become pretty uncomfortable very quickly. The only exception to this is the ski mask type of headband.
